It did get better!!

The university is much better these days! Although I am already tired and looking forward to Christmas break (haha, only 3ish months away) I feel way less lonely here. People are actually more friendly than they were at St. Mary's! St. Mary's was very small though, and did have the tendency to be a little cliquey. I think that here no one knows anyone so everyone is a lot more willing to talk to new people. I am actually pretty happy about that. Also, there is a great benefit to having lectures in the big theatres. If you sit near the back, you get to watch so many people fall asleep! It is hilarious. I had quite a good time in Astronomy the other day watching a couple of people do the head bobbing. The train is alright now, I've decided. Really, if you bring an iPod or something, it is kind of relaxing to just sit there and "decompress" (as Lauren worded it, which describes it so perfectly). Some days it is brutal, but I think overall I will get used to it. I drove up the other day, and it took me forever to walk from where I parked to my classes. The train lets me off a lot closer. It was nice to drive home on the 12 hour day though. I think I will be doing more of that in the future.

I am excited for my day to be over today though. It is September 20th today. Does that mean anything to anyone? No? Survivor starts tonight!!! I love when the fall shows start up again. :)

Back to School

The baby monkey was so CUTE!!

Lauren is feeding the ducks!!
My eyes are half closed so its kinda silly, but I look like I am having so much fun (which I was)!
Me in front of very dangerous zoo creatures...
L <3 the bear! She seems to have tamed him very well!

Ok! So I didn't want to update again until I had my pictures uploaded from the zoo, and tonight was the first night that I was ambitious enough to do that, so here it (they) is (are). I tried not to be so snap happy this time. I think I took and developed wayyy too many pictures when we went to see the dinosaurs, and I regret it a tiny bit! I looove the ones with the three of us in them, but as for the ones that are just the dinosaurs, I could just drive back up there and look at them again. The pictures are a little dull!

Yesterday was my very first day at the University of Calgary. I am still kind of excited to be going there, and so proud of myself that I got in, but it is amazing to me how lonely that place is! Even though I know and talk to more people there than at St. Mary's, I totally feel like just another number at the U of C. That, and the fact that the train ride up there isn't that much of a treat makes me hesitant about the year, but I am firm in thinking that it will get better. I certainly hope so anyway! Maybe if I take something to read on the train...

Alright, so the pictures were supposed to be between the first and second paragraphs, but I am tired of playing with this so I will leave them where they are!

What else can I say? This seems like a piddly entry so far. Ah well, I will leave it at this and update when I have more to say.

Good night all!

Week off

Today was the first day of my week off!! I (we) actually accomplished TONS today. Lauren and I headed out pretty early, considering it was a day off, and got out to buy the new season of Desperate Housewives (sooo excited to start watching it tonight) and school supplies. We found everything we needed and headed up to the U of C. I am a little excited for school, but also kind of intimidated. Lauren showed me where all my classes are (hopefully I can find my way back there next week) and we peeked into one of them. It is in a theatre! I cannot BELIEVE how many seats there are in that "class". I guess I was spoiled by starting out post secondary at a much smaller school! I am excited though. One thing that made me happy by looking into that class (theatre!) is that there were plenty of desk for left handed people. I was scared I would have an awkward year of trying to learn how to use a desk made for a righty. Luckily though, almost all of the aisle seats on one side are for south paws. Whew! We also got a lot of other stuff done at the U of C. We got Upass stickers, agendas, and went into the book store where I got two of my four books. It hurts so much though, to pay 215 (!!!) bucks for two books. They can pretty much charge anything they want though, considering you likely need the books to do well in their class. Oh well!

Matt and I went to the Labor Day Classic again this year. It was great. The game was slightly dull, but in the fourth quarter there were three streakers! Four if you count the guy who ran out with his pants still on, but he got booed for being lame. The Stamps won, and it was a good time. Also this weekend we went out for Jordan's birthday to a bar downtown. I had a FANTASTIC time. Met some new people and had fun with old friends! It was great. We got Jordan hooked on Matt's beer. Haha. Also, we did the traditional birthday movie (Harry Potter). We saw it in Imax though, and I wish I knew that they tell you when to put on the 3D glasses. The four of us were sitting there looking through the glasses and then not, trying to see if there was a difference for the first half of the movie. We must have looked pretty silly, considering that everyone else seemed to be clued in as to how the Imax situation works. :)

Have a great rest of the week!
